Keep on Dancing
June 2018- This painting is possibly one of the most chalenging one up to date. I spent more than a month on it- painting, twicking and generally being frustrated with it.
I love how the human body, male or female, looks and feels. This painting appeals to your senses in the most subtle yet fascinating way. Up close, you can see the texture in the dark background, and on parts of the body, which makes you want to touch and indulge in those senses.
It also makes you question what this painting is about: Is she dancing? Tied up? Stretching? Falling?
I added my signature at the back of the canvas rather than the front, for aesthetic purposes.
Inspiration: the constant idea of 'perfect body image'. I don't believe in it, I think it is important to get over this idea. I know some people may think that this body is thin, but I worked more on the idea of freedom for this picture than on the body curves itself.
