Hawkeye is a Character from Marvel Comics, well known in the Avengers, as the man with the Bow and arrow. Hawkeye is probably the only character who does not look the same between the comics and the movies. In the movies, he doesn't have a super-hero costume that covers his identity, whereas in the comics, he does. I wanted to show that side, rather than paint an actor. It took me a lot of work to get it right. I researched archer positions, and tried several sketches to see which I liked best. I really did not know much about this character, even though I had watched movies. It took me a while to get it right, because I kept feeling unhappy about what I had sketched or what I had done.
It got better when I made the background. I enjoyed that part a lot, because it felt like I was putting together a puzzle. I had a lot of sketches around me because I had to see where all of them were going to go and on which piece. It took me a bit of time to decide, but after it was a swift process. I used a black marker pen to outline parts of the sketches, and add words. I felt really good about what this painting became.
I think that this version feels a bit younger than the one we have in the comics. But every Hero had to grow up to get where they are now.
This piece may appeal to Marvel and DC fans, as well as archer lovers.
I package every piece myself, so I take great care when I do so.
It would make a great birthday/anniversary/house-warming present, or even a Christmas gift to yourself or a loved one.
