I was inspired to do this drawing because I am a big fan of fantasy art and literature. A few Years ago I found this great writer who made this amazing story about Angels and vampires and Archangels and Power play, politics and life, love. Everything. I guess that I got inspired to do this drawing from that story.
I have always been drawn to this style of writing and stories, but I have been truly inspired by this author to take my work to the next level.
I wanted to show my viewers the aspect of "protecting the city", that we usually see in DC and Comics stories, at the cinema as well as on the comic books, and on the TV series. We see many if not all superheroes fight for "their citiy". I thought to myself that without that concept of superhero, we usually leave the role of protection to creatures of mythology. Throughout History, this fact can be seen easily.
Here I am giving a very down to earth hero, in the clothes and the confidence, the general idea of this man with wings. There is no arrogance, simple knowledge in his eyes about his skills. There is a little something here though: to say that this creature is down to earth when clearly, they have wings and definitely not human.
I made this drawing on paper, for several hours stretched on days, first in pencils and pen. I then applied marker strokes in places, but not everywhere. I made the stormy sky by mixing on the paper itself, water and pencil.
I hope that my viewers will think that this work is a beautiful testimony to give someone confidence in themselves, and to truly appreciate our environment and make the most of it, love it as best as we can. To make it ours.
